Tags ship unclaimed — blank until the first tap. The sticker never needs reprogramming: what it shows is always up to you.
Stick it on the card
Slab backs, one-touch magnetic holders, top loaders — there's a Pilot Tag shaped for each. Holders and top loaders carry a printed QR backup that opens the exact same page.

Questions
The short answers
Do people need an app to tap a card?
No. Every modern iPhone and Android reads NFC natively — a tap opens the card's page in the browser. Magnetic-holder and top loader tags also carry a QR code for cameras.
Do tags come linked to anything?
No — tags ship unclaimed. The first person to tap one sets up the card and claims it with their account. Until then it's blank.
What if I sell the card?
Send the buyer a transfer link, or they can request ownership from the tag itself. You approve it — or, if you go quiet for five days, they can complete it with photo proof they're holding the card. Either way the card's page and history move with it.
Can I re-use a tag on a different card?
A tag binds to one card for life — that permanence is what makes it trustworthy to buyers. Extra tags are $5.99, so retire the old one and stick a fresh tag on the next card.
What's public and what's private?
Public by default: the card's photos, name, condition, and cert. Private always unless you say otherwise: what you paid, your notes, your estimated value, your contact info, and any card you mark private.
